Everything must fall in place. What do we do and where do we do it? Each area should be identify: an area for receiving education, reading, playing, eating, resting, etc. Upon entering the room, the child will be secured by the structure of the premises. The words and / or images displayed on the schedule must be found easily in the room environment. For example, if the child reads the word and / or image snack on his schedule, he must be able to find the word and / or image in the snack area designated for this activity.

Children need an individualized visual schedule. This tool helps the autistic person to anticipate the events of the day. Few autistic children seem to like surprises and contingencies.

The presentation of the schedule is very diverse. Some people prefer a am and pm schedule, some like it vertical, others like it horizontal, some prefer images only, other like a word with the picture, some prefer it colorful or black and white, etc.. When you structure the time of the child with a schedule, make a choice depending on the age and potential of the child. Make sure it is accessible. Feel free to decorate it with colors and the child favorite characters.

Be imaginative. The schedule may change along with the children. Be patient, a few days of testing may not be sufficient. Put it energy, it is worth it.

Go from point A to point B... An adapted education for PDD requires a fragmentation of what can be found between point A and B. For a better learning, it is necessary to micro-graduate every steps. By learning that way, the child feels well-motivated and competent.

Try to incorporate the children’s interests into learning. For example, if a student loves animals, you can submit animal pictures, see the related vocabulary, read informative and entertaining book about it, check the used spelling and calligraphy, invent a story, make an animal album, measure them, classify them according to different specifications, models them with clay, paint them, make animal puppets and let them talk, do research on the internet, cook a meal and shape it like an animal ( pizza cat, cheesy-mouse, pita-elephant, dinosaur-bread ... ), do educational visits or ask the pet store to come meet you, listen to different animal sounds, etc. It is infinite!
